Cucumbers

Crisp, refreshing and naturally low in calories, cucumbers are a versatile staple for everyday meals and snacks. Their mild flavour and high water content make them perfect for hydrating salads, sandwiches and wraps, or simply sliced with a pinch of salt.

Choose firm cucumbers with smooth, even-coloured skin. Long cucumbers are ideal for neat slices, ribbons and sticks for dipping, while smaller cucumbers are great for snacking and lunchboxes. Look for seedless or “mini” options when you want a sweeter bite and fewer seeds.

Cucumbers pair well with tomatoes, leafy greens, yoghurt-based dressings and fresh herbs. Use them to add crunch to burgers, sushi, mezze platters and grain bowls, or to infuse water with a clean, cooling taste.

Many cucumber options fit easily into vegetarian, vegan and lighter eating plans, and they’re a simple way to increase your daily vegetable intake. Store cucumbers in the fridge crisper and use soon after purchase to enjoy their best texture and flavour.
