This wine is made by Mark Shannon with great care for Primitivo grapes and lots of respect for tradition and heritage. It is Italian in its heart: elegant, fruity, fresh, interesting and complex.
This wine is deep red in colour. On the nose, there are intense aromas of ripe dark fruit, especially blackberries and cherries, with spicy notes of cocoa, lavender and liquorice. On the palate, it is youthful and full-bodied, with a great concentration of ripe, rounded fruit. It is a very elegant, fresh and complex Primitivo.
2018 was a challenging year in Puglia due to the constant and unusual summer rains. Rainfall was twice normal levels. Hard work, flexibility and total commitment were needed in the vineyards to produce the desired quality, and the grapes that ripened well were from sandier soils with good drainage. Careful vineyard management ensured that the grapes reached full maturation. The resulting wines are fresh and fruity with excellent acidity, colour and luscious flavors.
